Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience, with night shift scheduling and a patient ratio of 1:6.

Details

• Work setting is a hospital Med/Surg unit
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Epic EMR used (experience preferred)
• Block scheduling is not available for this position

Requirements

• Active IL RN license currently in hand (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias preferred
• Experience using Rapid Response/Code teams

• Local candidates are accepted for this position
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days; no RTO in the first or last week of the contract
• Former permanent staff at any University of Chicago Medicine location must have been separated for at least 7 months before being eligible to work as a traveler
• A non-billable orientation module (approximately 2–3 hours) is required and completed during orientation
• All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
