ASC Billing & Denials Management Specialist

This position is responsible for ensuring all initial and subsequent billing of ambulatory surgery center patient accounts are accurately processed to the appropriate payors. The Billing and Denials Specialist will apply problem solving skills to independently rectify all pre and post service issues to accurately submit claims for payment and carry out the appeal process for denied claims. The specialist will also work with third-party payers by responding to inquiries, escalating issues, and other correspondence. This position reports to the Hospital Business Office Director.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred with a focus in healthcare/business management/accounting OR Associate’s degree with three or more years of patient financial services experiences preferred.
Minimum two years’ experience in healthcare billing, collection, payment processing, or denials management preferred.
Knowledge of medical coding.
Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare and Medicare denials and appeals, third-party contracts, federal and state regulations relating to denials and appeals, and decision support criteria products.
Demonstrated knowledge of hospital billing and reimbursement.
