Director of Sales – Food Distribution
Location: Chicago, IL
Comp: $140K–$200K total package (base + bonus)
What This Role Is About
We’re looking for a sales leader who knows the food distribution world—ideally with a background in proteins. This role requires someone who can step in, set the tone, and take charge of a team that’s been operating without clear direction. You’ll bring consistency, structure, and urgency to a group that’s ready for a reset.

- Lead a team of 10–12 reps and help turn things around
- Manage and coach a sales team serving the food distribution market
- Set clear expectations, hold people accountable, and improve overall performance
- Build better systems, enforce follow-through, and bring structure to daily sales operations
- Work closely with leadership and operations to align customer service with revenue goals
- Support reps in the field, help close tough deals, and develop smarter sales habits
- Focus on margin, service, and steady improvement—not just numbers on paper
- Cultivate a team culture built on urgency, responsibility, and results
- BS/BA in Business, Sales, or Operations is preferred; or a minimum of 10+ years of relevant food distribution and sales experience in lieu of a degree
- 7–10 years of food distribution, protein sales, produce sales, or similar B2B food sales experience is required
- Experience leading a sales team – someone that can coach, teach, develop and pull talent from a newer team
- A strong leadership style—direct, practical, and grounded
- A solid grasp of how food moves through distribution, especially in the Chicago market
- The ability to drive change, correct course, and support the team without micromanaging
