PRESS HELPER / FEEDER - 2nd SHIFT

LOCATION: Harwood Heights, IL

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time, Temp-to-Hire

We have immediate openings in our Bindery department for motivated, quality Press Helpers / Feeders.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Assists with the removal and changing of plates and blankets
• Puts the proper ink in fountains of each unit needed for print job
• Maintains ink fountains during production run
• Helps remove the printed skid from the press delivery and transfers to staging area
• Identifies proper paper for each job utilizing the job ticket information
• Sets up press feeder to run with un-interrupted operation
• Must understand all aspects of the press feeder
• Replenishes and has available all press supplies such as rags and blanket wash
• Completes press maintenance procedures under the direction of pressman
• Clean and maintain area with established safety procedures and guidelines
• Maintains proper paper inventory
• Follows strict quality control measures and inspects paper for defects or damage
• Any other tasks as directed by press operator or supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years’ experience working in a commercial print production environment
• Must have working knowledge of the feeder operation
• Must be able to read and follow information on job ticket pertaining to a specific job; ensuring all necessary component to produce job are present
• Can troubleshoot basic issues and understands when to involve pressmen in the problem-solving process
• Must be trained in the mounting of plates and blankets
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions
• Works collaboratively with other press members
• Understands the use and danger of all wash up chemicals
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time & will occasionally have to climb, balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis
• Must take responsibility and ownership for their performance
