HSSEQ Manager - JLL
What this job involves: We are seeking an HSSEQ Manager to join our JLL team supporting a key client in Chicago. The HSSEQ Manager must demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety and serve as the SME for HSSEQ. To be successful in this role, the HSSEQ Manager will lead and sustain JLL’s health and safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, support HSSEQ KPIs, and provide expert guidance across the account in areas including risk assessments, JHA development, respiratory and fall protection, confined space, safety training, and other critical areas to foster a robust safety culture. The HSSEQ Manager must possess a collaborative leadership style to effectively work in a matrixed environment and motivate and inspire employees, leading them toward operational excellence and strengthening accountability throughout the organization. The HSSEQ Manager will support a portfolio of client facilities and collaborate closely with operational leadership, engineering teams, and service partners to ensure safe execution of maintenance, engineering, and facility management activities across the account.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Lead development and implementation of HSSEQ management systems and compliance programs, ensuring all JLL policies are executed consistently across client sites.
Partner with account leadership and operations teams to promote proactive safety culture, strengthen accountability, and provide coaching on HSSEQ best practices.
Review and approve pre-task plans, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses while conducting site audits to verify program effectiveness and compliance.
Manage incident reporting and investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and communication of lessons learned across operations.
Oversee HSSEQ qualification programs for service partners and vendors operating under JLL's scope of work.
Identify training needs and manage completion of mandatory, regulatory, and role-specific HSSEQ training requirements for all employees.
Track and report HSSEQ metrics against KPIs, establishing action plans to meet or exceed performance targets.
Evaluate workplace hazards and environmental risks to ensure safe working conditions across JLL service areas.
Maintain critical safety documentation including hazard assessments, PPE assessments, control plans, policies, and compliance registers.
Support specialized programs including electrical safety (QEW/LOTO) and environmental compliance requirements per contractual agreements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Health and Safety, Environmental, or related field. A proven track record in HSSEQ performance in lieu of degree may be acceptable.
Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
Ability to successfully pass background investigation.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to effectively and cooperatively interface with peers, colleagues, and clients.
Analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and ability to employ intelligent flexibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of five 5+ years of experience; experience in large, complex facilities portfolios
Professional certification(s): CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or other professional designation(s)

Compensation Range : $110,000 - $125,000 + 10% annual target bonus
This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Estimated compensation for this position:
110,000.00 – 125,000.00 USD per yearThis range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
