Maintenance Technician - West Chicago , IL

Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) is seeking an experienced maintenance professional for a development in West Chicago, IL . The Maintenance position is responsible for keeping exteriors, common areas, vacant units, sidewalks, and alleyways of the property clean and safe. This position will also be expected to assist in emergency responses and other types of basic maintenance when necessary. Maintenance workers must be customer service focused and are expected to know and uphold safety policies while on the job. Description of Duties: Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance and care of the apartments in the housing portfolio. The duties include but are not limited to:
- Complete work orders and unit turns in a timely manner and provide an excellent level of customer service.
- Perform a variety of preventative maintenance on mechanical systems.
- Perform a wide range of construction, alteration, maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of housing facilities; repair units upon vacancy. Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, components, and parts.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance.
- Assist in inspecting, cleaning, servicing, adjusting and making basic repairs to a variety of heating and air conditioning, and related equipment.
- Perform general janitorial work to the interior/exterior of building, including cleaning and picking up debris and maintaining a high level of curb appeal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school education or equivalent 3+ years of full-time maintenance experience
- Personable and trustworthy
- Be professional and focused on providing excellent customer service
- One (1) year of Heating and Air Conditioning experience is preferred.
- Basic plumbing and electrical experience
- Shows concern for a work safety program.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Vehicle, insurance and good driving record
- Must have own tools.
