Dynamic new products & ideas drive our 70+ year old national awards manufacturing & wholesaler organization. We are looking for a Production Art Expeditor to join our growing team! The position is located in our NW Chicago (Jefferson Park) corporate office & manufacturing facility.

Reporting to the Art Department Manager, your primary responsibilities involve proofing artwork created by production artists and preparing production artwork files to assist them during busy periods. You will ensure that production files meet technical requirements for various printing methods, including digital printing, film printing for Sandblasting, and laser printing, by adjusting color profiles, resolution, and ensuring proper bleeds and margins. Success in this position requires keen attention to detail, expertise in typography, precise page layout skills, and unwavering focus.

Responsibilities:

· Thoroughly proof artwork to ensure it meets customer requirements and quality standards.

· Act as the final checkpoint, meticulously checking accuracy in all aspects of the artwork.

· Collaborate closely with the art department to maintain consistency in typography and design elements.

· Collaborate with customer service representatives (CSR) to discuss additional information required from the customer.

· Verify that the artwork fulfills customer needs and aligns with the company's creative standards.

· Communicate effectively with the art team and other departments to resolve any discrepancies and ensure seamless workflow.

· Uphold proficiency in typography, contributing to the overall excellence of the artwork produced.

· Use graphic design software Illustrator and InDesign to create and refine artwork.

· Proofing and prepping artwork for production simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on deadlines.

· Provide valuable input and feedback to enhance the overall quality of artwork production.

Training:

· In your first 2-3 weeks in this role, you will receive training aimed at mastering Illustrator and InDesign. With guidance from the production art supervisor and experienced production artists, you will not only proof and correct artwork but also receive extensive training on our systems and different processes. During this training, you'll shadow an artist for hands-on process observation.

· Following this intensive training phase, you can expect to spend an extra 1-2 weeks dedicated to proofing and preparing artwork files, all while continuing to familiarize yourself with our systems.

Preferred Skills:

· Entry-level technical skills with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, but mostly high reading comprehension with proficiency in English. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in proofing artwork.

· Must be capable of versioning, organizing, sizing, and structuring for clear communication.

· Requires focus and extreme diligence in handling detail, typography and creating 100% accurate page layouts.

· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaboration with team members and clients.

· Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.

· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.

· Previous experience in artwork proofing or a related field is a plus.

· Must feel comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and be deadline-driven.

· Must also be willing to work a few hours of overtime when occasionally needed.

· Must be able to follow electronic file management process. Must know how to save files to a server and follow proper file naming conventions. Must know Adobe Acrobat to create PDFs to the proper specifications.

Required Education and/or Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent qualification are eligible, preferring a bachelor's degree in a related field.

· We prefer someone with a college education. If you do not have one, we would want you to have a proven track record of success in a similar role. Additional certification or coursework in proofing or typography is beneficial.

· In addition to your education and experience, you should be comfortable using a computer.
