Wahl Clipper Corporation, the world leader in cutting hair, has an exciting opportunity for a talented Engineering student to join our award-winning company, headquartered in Sterling, IL.
The OEM Manufacturing Engineering Intern has joint responsibilities fulfilling duties typically associated with a traditional manufacturing engineering role while cooperatively providing day to day manufacturing operations technical support. Personnel in this position will mentor and train OEM Process Technicians and perform key hands on activities aimed at keeping manufacturing equipment performing at optimum levels of productivity. Additionally, these individuals will work in the area of operations development, identify new equipment requirements, develop process specifications, work with capital equipment suppliers and integrators, acquire new equipment & systems, and execute acceptance run-offs and validations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will work with confidential information relative to OEM operations and development activities.
- The individual will stay abreast of technological advances related to OEM and industry practices as they relate to daily operations.
- The individual will identify potential cost savings and productivity improvements, determine methods for realizing those savings and implement processes to capture them.
- The intern will work directly with equipment manufacturers, specify tools and systems to best address needs, evaluate competitive offerings, make recommendations for purchase, generate requisition documentation and secure systems that meet standards and requirements for the manufacture of medical devices.
- The intern will troubleshoot existing automated equipment and systems, make necessary adjustments to optimize outputs and safeguard product integrity, replace and repair worn or malfunctioning components and restock critical inventories.
- The intern will support the OEM Process Technician as necessary by teaching and mentoring these individuals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Current undergraduate or recent graduate
- Pursuing a degree or has a strong demonstrated passion for Engineering or similar field
- Completed at least one year of college
- Must be willing to study manuals and literature on equipment and be willing to attend classes/training on related subjects.
- Testing may be required to confirm qualifications and/or provide documented school transcripts.
- Must be able to sit, stand and reach for extended periods of time and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be willing to successfully complete required cell training, such as 5S, safety, quality and precision instruments, blueprint reading, electricity and math.
- Must be able to complete GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO 13485 training.
