Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: New York, NY 10029
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 5x8-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 12:00 PM; 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
Local Pay Rate: $840 Weekly Gross
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinical staff by performing both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient patient care delivery. Responsibilities include direct patient interaction, medical support tasks, and essential clerical functions that maintain the integrity and flow of the healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with patient care duties including performing venipuncture, EKGs, obtaining vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and assisting during procedures.
Organize patient flow and assist with walking, transferring, or dressing as needed.
Collect and process specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and relay physician instructions to patients and families.
Perform clerical tasks such as managing patient charts, medical records, lab and imaging reports, and referral documentation.
Enter orders into the EMR system and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
Maintain inventory and restock medical supplies as required.
Ensure exam rooms and instruments are properly sterilized in accordance with infection control policies.
Maintain required logs for medication refrigeration, sterilization, crash cart, and point-of-care testing.
Check and properly dispose of expired medications and supplies.
Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by adhering to safety standards and PPE protocols.
Assist in the maintenance of patient charts, scheduling of surgeries or procedures, and preparation of pre-admission and consent forms.
Perform proficient phlebotomy duties when required.
Handle appointment scheduling, patient registration, demographic and insurance updates.
Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary pre-certifications for procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support clinical operations.
Work Environment
General office and clinical environment.
Light physical activity with occasional lifting, carrying, and assisting patients.
Regular use of PPE and exposure to biohazardous materials may occur.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course .
Certifications & Licensure
Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school – Required.
BLS Certification (AHA) – Required.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Preferred.
