Pressbox is hiring Back of House team members for our high-energy sports bar and restaurant located in Chicago’s South Loop / Printers Row neighborhood.

We are looking for dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented kitchen staff who take pride in consistency, cleanliness, and quality execution. Pressbox serves lunch, dinner, brunch, late-night food, game-day crowds, group reservations, and private events, so we need people who can work with urgency, stay organized, and support a fast-paced kitchen environment.

About the Role

Back of House team members are responsible for supporting daily kitchen operations and helping ensure every dish is prepared according to Pressbox standards. Ideal candidates should be reliable, organized, able to follow direction, and comfortable working as part of a team.

Line cooks and prep cooks should be able to follow recipes, maintain proper prep levels, set up stations, and execute food consistently during service. Dishwashers, porters, and kitchen support staff should be able to work efficiently, keep the dish area and kitchen clean, and assist the team wherever needed.

For Lead Cook, Sous Chef, or kitchen management support roles, candidates should have prior kitchen leadership experience and the ability to help manage prep, service execution, cleanliness, food quality, and team communication.

Responsibilities May Include:

• Preparing food according to recipes, standards, and portion guidelines
• Setting up and breaking down stations for service
• Maintaining proper prep levels for lunch, dinner, brunch, late-night, game-day, and event service
• Cooking and plating menu items consistently and efficiently
• Following food safety, sanitation, and storage procedures
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Washing dishes, utensils, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment as needed
• Receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries properly
• Communicating clearly with chefs, managers, and team members
• Supporting the kitchen during high-volume shifts
• Completing opening, closing, prep, and cleaning duties

For Lead Cook, Sous Chef, or kitchen management support candidates, responsibilities may also include:

• Supporting daily kitchen operations
• Helping train and coach BOH team members
• Maintaining food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
• Assisting with prep lists, station organization, and service readiness
• Supporting inventory, ordering, waste control, and kitchen cleanliness
• Helping maintain a positive, professional, and accountable kitchen culture

Qualifications:

• Previous restaurant or kitchen experience preferred
• Strong work ethic and sense of urgency
• Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and kitchen procedures
• Ability to work cleanly, safely, and efficiently
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift as required for the role
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, brunch shifts, late-night shifts, and game days as needed
• Food Handler certification preferred or required depending on role
• Leadership experience preferred for Lead Cook, Sous Chef, and kitchen management support roles

Compensation:

Compensation varies by role and experience. Kitchen leadership compensation will be discussed based on experience and position level.
