Sous Chef
Contract-To-Growth Opportunity
This is a 1-year contract position with the opportunity for long-term growth into a Head Chef leadership role as the restaurant continues to expand.
We are seeking a dependable, passionate, and team-oriented Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef to join our growing family-owned fine dining restaurant as we continue to expand our business. This is a 1-year contract position with the opportunity for long-term growth into a Head Chef leadership role for the right candidate. The ideal candidate takes pride in consistency, organization, and quality while respecting the integrity of our family-owned recipes and standards. This role requires someone who is committed to executing established recipes without compromise while supporting daily kitchen operations and helping maintain the elevated dining experience our guests have come to expect.

Responsibilities
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
- Work closely with the owners to create seasonal and pairing dinner menus as needed
- Supervise kitchen staff’s activities
- Recruit, manage and train kitchen staff when necessary
- Rectify arising problems or complaints in a timely manner
- Give prepared plates the “final touch” before the dishes reaches the guests
- Ensure food quality remains consistently high
- Perform administrative duties
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Communicate well with BOH, FOH and owners
- Ensure the kitchen staff remains up to date with all required government certifications
Requirements and skills
- Must carry a valid Food Manager Certification
- Must be a strong leader AND a strong team player
- Previous experience as a Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager in an upscale or fine dining restaurant would be beneficial
- Excellent record of kitchen management
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Ability to work independently and proficiency in multi-tasking
- Capable of delegating multiple tasks
- Communication and leadership skills
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional kitchen experience preferred
- Previous experience preparing Indian or Fusion concept cuisines, preferred but not required
Experience:
- Culinary experience: 2 years (Preferred)
- Cooking: 3 years (Preferred)
