Operations Specialist II
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Deputy Chief Administrator, the Operations Specialist II performs advanced technical work in support of 9-1-1 system operations and systems. The Operations Specialist is also primarily responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the law records system, radio / paging infrastructure, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) program. They configure and maintain the system to optimize the flow of information between PSAPs and public safety agencies, provide troubleshooting support, and both develop and deliver training to customers.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, public safety, or related field and three to five (3-5) years’ experience in communications or records in a public safety agency or Equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred qualifications include prior experience in a supervisory emergency communications role, or a work history of progressive responsibility within emergency communications, and emergency response experience. Experience with the use and configuration of the records system used by Will County 9-1-1 is highly desirable. Excellent word processing and spreadsheet skills. Excellent customer services skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task several projects. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment skills assessment. Valid State of Illinois Driver’s License and minimum automobile insurance as required by law are required.
Salary Range
$99,069 - $105,695 D.O.Q.
