Head Catering Field Chef – Confidential Opportunity

Location: Chicagoland Area - based in Chicago and traveling locally
Compensation: $65,000–$80,000 + Additional Event-Based Income

A well-established catering and hospitality company is seeking a talented Head Catering Field Chef to lead culinary execution for a variety of off-premise events throughout the Chicagoland area.

This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on culinary leader who enjoys variety, thrives in fast-paced environments, and excels at leading teams in dynamic settings. This is not a traditional restaurant-based Executive Chef role—it is designed for someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, and bringing exceptional food experiences to life in different venues every day.

Events range from intimate corporate gatherings and social celebrations to large-scale plated dinners, galas, and special events serving hundreds or thousands of guests. No two days are the same, and successful candidates enjoy the excitement and challenge of changing environments.

• Lead culinary execution for off-premise catering events throughout the Chicagoland area
• Oversee event preparation, setup, service execution, and quality standards
• Lead and coach culinary teams ranging from small crews to larger event teams
• Ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, timing, and consistency
• Review event menus, production plans, and culinary requirements
• Assist with food preparation, organization, and commissary kitchen operations
• Troubleshoot challenges and make quick decisions during live events
• Communicate effectively with event teams and operational partners
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and quality standards

• Strong culinary background with leadership experience
• Previous banquet, catering, or high-volume event experience preferred
• Experience managing culinary teams in fast-paced environments
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and solutions-focused under pressure
• Hands-on leadership style with a passion for mentoring teams
• Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and a flexible schedule
• Enjoys working in different locations and adapting to changing priorities
