Early Childhood Lead Teacher
The Waldorf School of DuPage is pleased to invite applications for an Early Childhood Lead Teacher in our mixed-age Preschool/Kindergarten classroom.
Our Early Childhood faculty is a committed professional community dedicated to fostering clear communication, consistent and developmentally appropriate routines based in Waldorf pedagogy, strong safety practices, and effective collaboration across classrooms. We seek a colleague who brings steadiness, initiative, and a collaborative approach to this important work with young children and their families.
Essential Job Duties
- Plan, implement, and document a balanced curriculum that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children; and maintain accurate and confidential classroom and student records.
- Establish and maintain a warm, orderly, and well-prepared classroom environment that reflects the rhythms, values, and aesthetic of Waldorf early childhood education
- Participate fully in the daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms of the school.
- Observe, assess, and respond thoughtfully to individual student needs, and collaborate with colleagues and families to support student growth and well-being.
- Build respectful, collaborative partnerships with parents and caregivers through regular communication, parent conferences, class meetings, and written correspondence, offering guidance consistent with Waldorf principles.
- Work collegially with faculty, administration, and staff; participate in faculty meetings, professional development days, in-service trainings, and required school events.
- Train, mentor, and supervise the classroom assistant, fostering clear communication, shared responsibility, and effective teamwork.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including Waldorf teacher training and continuing education, and remain current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Support and participate in school festivals, committees, outreach, and admissions-related activities, and serve as a positive ambassador for the school within the wider community.
- Uphold all school policies and procedures related to health, safety, and security to ensure the well-being of students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Qualifications
- Completion or near completion of Waldorf Teacher Training certificate from AWSNA or WECAN affiliated institute
- Bachelors degree
- Three or more years of teaching experience
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism
- Experience with working with learning and developmental differences
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $46,000 - $54,000
