Intermodal Sales Representative - Drayage
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite About the Role
We are seeking an Intermodal Sales Representative – Drayage to drive the commercial growth of our drayage and intermodal services while ensuring operational commitments made during the sales process are executed successfully. This role is designed for a transportation professional who understands container drayage from a sales, pricing, and customer-solutioning perspective , with the operational knowledge to support complex port and rail freight.
You will serve as a key commercial partner to sales leadership and customers, owning drayage strategy during the sales cycle, supporting new business development, leading pricing and solution design, and helping convert opportunities into long-term, profitable accounts. You’ll work cross-functionally with operations, carriers, and leadership to grow revenue while maintaining service excellence. What You’ll Do
- Drive drayage and intermodal revenue growth by supporting new business development, customer solutioning, and strategic sales initiatives
- Act as the drayage subject-matter expert during customer meetings, discovery calls, RFPs, and onboarding discussions
- Develop and present competitive drayage pricing strategies aligned with market conditions, capacity, and margin targets
- Partner with sales leadership to win new shipper business and expand existing customer relationships
- Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with shippers, ports, terminals, steamship lines, and carrier partners
- Analyze market trends, port congestion, rail dynamics, and capacity constraints to inform sales strategy and pricing decisions
- Support customer onboarding and oversee execution to ensure service commitments made during the sales process are delivered
- Monitor commercial and service KPIs including margin, cost per move, carrier performance, and on-time delivery
- Identify growth opportunities across ports, regions, and customer verticals to expand drayage volume and wallet share
- Collaborate with leadership to align drayage offerings with broader commercial and revenue objectives
- Ensure compliance with all applicable drayage, safety, and environmental regulations
- Provide guidance and mentorship to operational and support teams as needed to maintain service standards
- 5+ years of experience in drayage, intermodal, or port-focused transportation/logistics
- Proven experience in customer-facing sales support , including pricing, solutioning, RFPs, and onboarding
- Strong understanding of drayage economics , accessorials, and cost drivers
- Ability to balance customer expectations, revenue goals, and operational realities
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to influence deal outcomes and pricing decisions
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Proven ability to solve problems in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; TMS experience preferred
- Base salary: $70,000 – $90,000 DOE + bonus/commission potential
