Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring a BSN, active IL RN license, and prior post-cardiac catheterization recovery experience.
Details
- Work in the PACU of a community hospital (inpatient and ambulatory/outpatient settings)
- Patient population is primarily older adults; pediatric patients are 12 months of age and older
- Experience recovering post-cardiac catheterization patients is required
- Experience in preop and Phase II recovery phases of perioperative care is expected
- Patient ratio is 1:4
- Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday with variable start times of 6am, 9am, 10am, or 11am
- No on-call requirements
- No weekend requirements
- Epic EMR — experience required
- Floating between units or facilities within the health system may be required upon manager request
Requirements
- Active IL RN license currently in hand — emergency and pending licenses are not accepted
- BSN required
- Minimum 1 year of direct PACU experience required; 2 years preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS — all must be through AHA
- Experience with Epic EMR required
- Travel experience required
- Preferred certifications: Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS), Emergency Communications RN, Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
- Preferred: prior charge nurse experience
- Preferred: community hospital experience
- 2 references required for consideration, including at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Charge RN within the past year
- A skills checklist is required for consideration
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application — RTO cannot be added after submission
- Vaccination status must be documented on your profile
Additional Information
- Provide Phase I PACU, preop, and Phase II recovery care to a predominantly adult patient population
- Manage post-cath lab patients as part of regular caseload
- Pediatric patient management (ages 12 months and older) may be required
- Previous employment at Northwestern Medicine or any of its acquired facilities must be disclosed in employment history
- Candidates living within 75 miles of the facility are eligible to apply at a local rate
- Orientation modules are completed during scheduled shifts; duration varies by specialty
