Certified Nursing Assistant Job Details

• Location: Harvey, IL 60426 (Greater Chicago area)
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Medical Surgical (Med Surg) Unit
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel CNA Contract)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts per week (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $670–$690 per week
• Patient Ratio: 1:10
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required to other hospital units as needed
• Local Candidates: Accepted

CNA Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Illinois CNA license (required at time of application)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• At least 1 year of recent acute care CNA experience in a hospital setting (within the last 3 years)
• Familiarity with electronic charting systems
• Ability to float between units as needed
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Two professional references (one from a direct supervisor or manager)
• Must be available to work every other weekend
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off during contract
• First-time travel CNAs welcome to apply

CNA Responsibilities in Acute Care Med Surg

• Deliver direct patient care and clinical support to adults in an acute care medical-surgical environment
• Assist with patient ambulation, feeding, turning, repositioning, and personal hygiene
• Perform bed baths, change linens, and provide skin care to prevent pressure injuries
• Monitor and promptly report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
• Obtain and accurately record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature)
• Assist with safe patient transfers and mobility support
• Follow infection control, isolation precautions, and proper PPE protocols
• Collaborate with registered nurses and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Float to other hospital units as required to meet patient care needs
