Vice president of operations
LEVEL Construction, Inc. is celebrating 20 years as a trusted leader in commercial construction, known for delivering high-quality projects and maintaining strong client relationships.
As we enter our next phase of growth, we are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Vice President of Operations to manage our teams, strengthen operational performance, and to contribute to new business development.
About the Role
The Vice President of Operations - IL is a key member of our leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of company operations—including field management, estimating, and safety. This role will partner with corporate HR and accounting to ensure that people policies and accounting practices are in alignment.
In this highly visible leadership role, you will be responsible for leading all construction operations, driving efficiency, quality, and profitability across a portfolio of critical projects. Reporting to the managing partner, this role ensures operational excellence and alignment with strategic business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversee daily operations across all departments
- Lead, mentor, and support project managers and superintendents to ensure accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Develop and implement scalable systems and processes to drive operational efficiency and consistency
- Oversee project delivery from start to finish, ensuring quality, safety, budget adherence, and on-time completion
- Lead workforce planning initiatives, including recruitment, professional development, and retention strategies
- Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, legal standards, and company policies
- Partner with the president and senior management to shape strategic plans and lead growth-focused initiatives
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee procurement processes
- Monitor company-wide financial performance and support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning
Qualifications & Attributes
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial construction or a related industry
- Proven success managing complex operations, large teams, and multi-million-dollar projects
- Deep understanding of construction workflows, safety standards, and key financial metrics
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with ERP and construction management software (Procore, Blubeam, CMiC, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar)
- OSHA Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
