Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Cost Controller to support capital projects ranging from $1M to $30M. In this role, you will be responsible for cost control, estimating, and document control across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with Project Managers and the Project Controls Manager to ensure budgetary compliance, financial performance, and timely project execution.
Job Description
- Control and monitor all project expenditures, commitments, engineering hours, and cash flow.
- Establish and manage project budgets from inception through completion.
- Track costs and proactively identify and resolve variances.
- Support change management processes and ensure contract terms are upheld.
- Analyze and track additional charges/claims to ensure all project costs are captured.
- Attend project review meetings and assist with financial reporting and analysis.
- Review and verify invoices for payment, ensuring contractual compliance.
- Serve as the focal point for document control on assigned projects.
- Maintain organized, up-to-date financial and project documentation.
- Manage project folders to ensure quick access to key information.
- Lead monthly cost review meetings to address potential cost-related risks.
- Coordinate with accounting and finance teams regarding project financials.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders.
- Primary shift is 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CT.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in cost control and estimating methodologies
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
- Knowledge of contract law and compliance practices
- Industry experience in petrochemicals, oil & gas, mining, infrastructure, or construction is preferred.
- Experience with document control systems and practices.
- Previous experience with similar capital project environments is a plus.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field preferred. High School Diploma required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project cost estimating and control.
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA)
