The Opportunity

Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, informatics, and toxicology.
Abbott currently has an exciting opportunity for a Global Marketing Manager, Next Generation Point of Care Portfolio . This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping the future commercial, brand, and portfolio strategy for Abbott’s next generation of point-of-care diagnostics. The role reports to the Director of Strategy & Innovation and is based in either San Diego, CA or Lake Forest, IL.
What You’ll Work On
- Define and communicate the long-term portfolio and brand vision for Abbott’s next generation of point-of-care diagnostic solutions.
- Lead development and implementation of unified product requirements that align platforms, technologies, and experiences across the future point-of-care portfolio.
- Create new global brand positioning, value propositions, and messaging frameworks that clearly differentiate Abbott’s next generation offerings.
- Partner with Market Insights to define future-oriented market segmentation, identify unmet needs, and translate insights into portfolio and brand strategy.
- Establish portfolio standards for common elements such as connectivity, software, workflows, and hardware to maximize customer value and scalability.
- Influence and guide R&D and upstream teams to ensure products are seamlessly integrated and deliver a cohesive customer experience.
- Assess competitive offerings to sharpen positioning, define must-have versus nice-to-have features, and inform strategic trade-offs.
- Recommend launch cadence and sequencing for future products and platforms, balancing strategic impact, organizational readiness, and market opportunity.
- Lead development of integrated business cases, including market sizing, financial modeling, and scenario analysis, to support investment and prioritization decisions.
- Serve as a senior cross-functional leader, ensuring alignment and collaboration across marketing, strategy, R&D, finance, commercial, and operations teams.
- Deliver clear, proactive, and executive-ready communications to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Education and Experience You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, healthcare, marketing, engineering, life sciences, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in medical diagnostics, healthcare delivery/management, point-of-care, or healthcare technology, with significant marketing, healthcare operations or strategy experience.
- Proven ability to lead through influence in a complex, global matrix organization.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and executive presence.
- Ability to travel globally up to 20%.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in brand strategy, value proposition development, and upstream marketing for complex portfolios preferred.
- Strong financial acumen, including business case development and market analytics preferred.

The base pay for this position is $129,300.00 – $258,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
