Addison Group is hiring on behalf of our client, a growing organization seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support accounts receivable, credit management, and inventory-related accounting functions. This role works closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting and strong internal controls.

Job Description

The AR & Inventory Accountant will be responsible for managing receivables, supporting credit and collections activity, and assisting with inventory and cost accounting processes. This position plays a key role in month-end close, reconciliations, and operational reporting within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable & Credit Management

• Post and apply customer payments accurately while adhering to established accounting procedures
• Monitor outstanding receivables and lead collection follow-ups with external customers and internal sales partners
• Oversee credit-related processes, including trade credit insurance and risk monitoring tools
• Maintain customer account records, ensuring accuracy through daily review and reconciliation
• Prepare and reconcile cash receipts and bank activity tied to AR transactions
• Investigate and resolve variances between the AR subledger and general ledger
• Communicate payment reminders and document collection efforts for past-due accounts
• Generate AR reports, including aging schedules, collection metrics, and credit exposure summaries
• Record month-end receivable-related journal entries, including reserves, commissions, and accruals

Inventory, Cost Accounting & Close Support

• Analyze job and work-order costing, identifying and correcting cost variances
• Assist with monthly inventory reconciliations and valuation reviews in partnership with finance leadership
• Support inventory control efforts, including tracking adjustments, usage, and scrap
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of inventory, routing, and production reporting
• Help administer and report on costing inputs such as labor efficiency, applied rates, and material usage
• Participate in month-end close activities, including journal entries and financial reporting
• Provide ad hoc accounting and administrative support to the finance team as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, and general accounting
• Prior exposure to inventory and cost accounting within a manufacturing setting strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, lookup formulas, and data analysis tools
• Experience working with ERP systems required; manufacturing ERP experience is a plus
• Highly organized, detail-focused professional with strong problem-solving and communication skills
