Job Description

Allied Universal® is hiring an Engineering Manager. The Engineering Manager leads pre‑ and post‑field support engineering teams across system design, project delivery, and operational support. Serving as the primary customer-facing technical escalation, this role ensures on-time, compliant project execution while providing strong people leadership and fostering effective cross‑functional and client partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, mentor and schedule a small team of field support pre and post engineers, handle performance reviews, career development and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with Installation teams on the execution and delivery of infrastructure and systems projects across network, video, database and security domains (physical security, access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and logical/security appliances).
  • Supervise the quoting, RFI, RFP and engineering RFC processes for all projects, encompassing technical documents, drawings, scopes of work, and specifications; ensures compliance with the requirements of the prime contract and meets company standard processes
  • Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, milestones, and technical requirements; coordinate with third-party vendors, integrators and contractors as needed.
  • Maintain documentation: runbooks, SOPs, topology, security diagrams, change logs and project deliverables.
  • Act as customer-facing technical lead for outages, escalations and project status — communicate progress, risks, mitigation plans and timelines to stakeholders and clients.
  • Review system design and component compatibility; exercise cost analysis procedures and value engineering for components in the project, creating opportunities for cost reduction and margin increases

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management or supervisory experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years hands-on experience with servers and enterprise network infrastructure with three (3) years managing projects or teams
  • Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL) including performance tuning, backup/recovery and HA
  • Strong customer-facing experience, including presenting technical content to non-technical stakeholders and managing clear, timely incident communications
  • Demonstrated project management capability, including managing multiple projects while overseeing schedules, risks, scope, and vendor deliverables
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, team-oriented environment while developing trusted, collaborative relationships across internal teams, vendors, and executive-level clients

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field
  • Supervisory experience in construction or operations
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification
  • Network certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCDA), security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+), database certifications (Oracle, Microsoft, PostgreSQL) and/or AV certifications (CTS).
  • Experience with cloud networking, cloud-hosted databases and cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with ITSM/incident management tools (ServiceNow, Jira) and various physical security integration platforms

BENEFITS:

  • Pay range: $90,000 - $110,000 annual salary + 12% bonus potential
  • Medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance
  • Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days
  • Vacation time is offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law.
