Spherion is partnering with a leading scrap metal processing company with over 127 years of industry experience to find a dedicated Maintenance Technician for their Rock River team! This is a vital role focused on keeping heavy equipment and plant machinery running at peak performance during non-production hours.


Role Highlights
Compensation: $25-34/hr.
Location: South Beloit, IL
Shift/Schedule: Night Shift | Monday-Friday starting at 4 PM (Occasional Saturdays required)

What You'll Do
You will work primarily outdoors to maintain plant productivity through proactive equipment management and repairs.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform PMs and repairs on stationary equipment, downstream sorting lines, conveyors, and machines.
Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot industrial equipment including auto shredders, forklifts, front-end loaders, skid steers, and trailers.
Technical Systems: Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems, PLCs, valves, cylinders, and bearings.
Welding/Fabrication: Perform stick and MIG welding and fabrication on stationary equipment.
Inventory & Records: Maintain proper parts inventory and prepare daily maintenance reports and records.
Safety: Wear all necessary PPE and strictly follow company safety standards while working in the yard.


What You Bring
Previous maintenance experience working on large equipment is required.
Proficiency in Welding (Stick & MIG) and fabrication is required.
Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and able to lift 30-50 lbs.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently during night shift hours.
Bonus: Familiarity with yard vehicles, material separators, and loaders is a definite plus!
