Assistant/Associate Professor – AI Software
The Department of Software Engineering () at Gyeongsang National University (GNU), Korea, is seeking an outstanding bilingual in English and Korean for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position expected to start in September, 2026 (Bilingual requirements in English and Korean are preferred, not mandatory). This position is reserved for foreign faculty members, and individuals holding Republic of Korea nationality are not eligible to apply.

The Department of Software Engineering aims to educate professional engineers in the areas of AI and safety-critical airborne systems. The prospects for our graduates remain brighter than ever, as the need for high-quality system engineers continues to increase worldwide. Specifically, there are huge demands from industries in the nearby aircraft complex.

The Department of Software Engineering was newly established in 2024 in the College of IT Engineering by separating the software major from the Department of Aerospace and Software Engineering in the College of Engineering. In March 2027, software-related departments, including this department, are scheduled to be integrated into the AI Computer Engineering Department under the AI College.

We are managing the BK21 Plus (Brain Korea 21 Program for Leading Universities & Students) program. Additionally, we have established aconverged education system for advanced engineers by collaborating with Glocal universities and RISE projects, while cultivating engineers with global minds through various international programs.

Qualifications

Eligible candidates are those who have earned a Ph.D.in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. The priority areas are artificial intelligence, software engineering, and system software. Eligible candidates should have at least three research publications as first or corresponding author. Each publication should be a journal indexed by SCI(E) or a renowned international conference sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society and the ACM.
