Medical Assistant Job Details

• Location: Chicago, IL 60612 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Pediatric Hospital Unit
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens Medical Assistant (Travel)
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 22, 2025
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM), Monday – Friday
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Adolescents, Pediatrics
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: $2/day at JTDC with shuttle service every 15 minutes

Medical Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred, or 5 years of Medical Assistant experience
• MA Associate's Degree or MA Diploma required
• Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, ARMA, NCCT, NRCMA)
• Current BLS certification
• Experience with both adult and pediatric patients
• Ability to float to different hospital units within 50 miles as needed
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions for flu only)
• Must reside within 75 miles of Chicago, IL
• Illinois MA license in hand upon submission

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

• Assist with patient intake, vital signs, and documentation in a busy pediatric outpatient clinic
• Support physicians and nurses in daily patient care for up to 80 pediatric visits per day
• Float to various hospital units as needed to meet facility demands
• Maintain accurate medical records using Cerner EMR system
• Provide compassionate care to neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients
• Adhere to all compliance and vaccination requirements
• Work collaboratively within a team-based healthcare model when floated outside primary competency
