Target Metal Blanking has a Forklift Repair Technician position available for an experienced, reliable, and dependable team member. You'll be responsible for repairing and maintaining mobile equipment such as but not limited to forklifts.

Core Activities:
  • Visually inspects and listens to forklifts and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
  • Dismantles Forklifts to repair the problem.
  • Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Removes and replaces worn or defective parts on forklifts
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all mobile equipment such as but not limited to forklifts, die handling truck and high lifts.
  • Inspects mobile equipment as it runs to determine performance of faulty equipment.
  • Sets up and operates metal working tools such as drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts.
  • Welds using arc or mig for repairs or fabrication.
  • Use of gas torches/ Plasma cutter for cutting material for repairs.
  • Read prints or sketches to repair or replace defective parts.
  • Utilize fork lift check sheets to locate issues with forklifts
  • Fill out proper paper work such as forklift check sheets, pm sheets etc
  • Communicate with maintenance supervisor issues that will be costly for cause equipment to be down for a period of time.
  • Communicate to Administrative assistant parts needed for repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Remove mobile equipment from service at any time if there is a safety issue.

Education and/or Experience:

One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to outside service contractors or technicians.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
