Echo Tech Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Echo Tech)
• Location: Peoria, Illinois 61636 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Hospital – Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Unit
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: November 29, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, Monday–Friday, 7:15am – 3:45pm (8-hour shifts)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2250 - $2310 per week

Echo Technologist Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent experience as an Echo Tech or Echocardiography Technologist
• Associate's Degree in Ultrasound, Echocardiography, or related field
• Certification by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) in Echocardiography
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Proficient in patient positioning, transducer techniques, and recognizing imaging artifacts
• Strong knowledge of gross and sectional anatomy
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension)
• Basic computer skills and experience with digital archive systems

Echo Tech Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality two-dimensional cardiac ultrasound studies for adult patients
• Identify EKG abnormalities and arrhythmias
• Utilize M-Mode, color flow, pulsed and continuous-wave Doppler, and contrast echocardiography
• Assess blood flow, valvular insufficiencies, stenosis, regurgitations, and shunts
• Evaluate ventricular function and document wall motion abnormalities
• Recognize congenital and acquired heart pathologies
• Complete studies according to current protocols and provide additional views/calculations as needed
• Operate ultrasound equipment and select appropriate transducers
• Obtain and document patient history and clinical data
• Assist with exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiograms and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
• Communicate results to cardiologists and respond to questions/concerns
• Participate in mobile echo/vascular service and callback rotation
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in competency assessments
