Job Description

We are looking for a Java Software Developer to design, develop, and support innovative software solutions. This position will be a 6-12 month contract, full-time, and remote. This position may require after-hours or on-call support, including weekends and evenings.

Only work authorizations that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure application of systems thinking principles, allowing team members to independently design, code, test, and deploy software

  • Provide the necessary documentation to support the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Develop prototypes and solutions leveraging a diverse range of technology

  • Apply modern principles, methodologies, tools, and systemic processes to support the launch of new business capabilities

  • Encode, test, and debug associated software/programs

  • Review, analyze, and modify core and customized software

  • Respond to customer inquiries/requests for technical/operational support

  • Resolve technical matters to meet customer service level agreements

  • Perform root cause analysis/fixes or corrective action of defects

  • Follow documented Software Development Life-Cycle standards

  • Participate in special projects and training, as required

  • Escalate issues to senior levels as required

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience within a professional software development environment

  • Strong understanding in the following areas:

  • Java technologies using Java 1.4 and greater, JSP, XML

  • Web Technologies, such as HTML, JavaScript

  • Web services technologies such as REST, JSON

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, work instructions, process maps, and/or governmental regulations

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of internal and external customers

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Basic understanding of and willingness to learn and adopt professional and industry standards

  • Customer service-driven

  • Strong team player

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

  • Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person.

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$47.00 - $50.00 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
