Position: Accounting Controller

We are a China-based agricultural chemical company with a global manufacturing and distribution network. We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead the full-cycle accounting management for our North American operations.

This role will serve as the on-site accounting lead, with full ownership of accounting operations. It is primarily responsible for owning the general ledger, month-end close, and manufacturing cost accounting, while providing support to financial analysis and business decision-making.

1. Core Accounting & Financial Operations (Primary Responsibility)

• Own and execute full-cycle month-end close, including preparation and posting of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement review
• Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure compliance with company accounting policies and US GAAP
• Manage inventory and cost accounting, including inventory valuation (raw materials, WIP, finished goods), COGS, and related reconciliations
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to headquarters and local management
• Oversee daily accounting operations (AP, AR, GL), and guide team members to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls in line with company policies
• Identify inefficiencies in accounting and cross-functional workflows and drive process improvements
• Oversee treasury-related activities and guide or independently execute accounts payable payment processes
• Lead or support implementation of finance systems and process improvements in alignment with HQ requirements (ERP and accounting system integration)

2. Manufacturing Cost & Operational Support

• Monitor and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and key cost drivers across procurement, production, and logistics
• Perform inventory and cost variance analysis (e.g., purchase price variance, usage variance, landed cost)
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and improve cost visibility
• Support initiatives to improve inventory turnover and reduce working capital

3. Financial Planning & Analysis Support (Secondary)

• Support the Finance Director in preparing budgeting and rolling forecasts
• Assist in analyzing financial performance and explaining key variances
• Support cash flow monitoring by tracking AR/AP status and working capital trends
• Provide financial data and insights to support business decision-making (analysis led by Finance Director)
• Oversee AR/AP status and working capital to support cash flow management; assist in cash flow forecasting and ensure healthy liquidity
• Monitor departmental budget execution and support rolling forecast updates
• Partner with supply chain and operations to identify cost-saving opportunities and flag inefficiencies across procurement, production, and logistics

4. Risk & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local tax and regulatory requirements; coordinate with external tax advisors for filings (income tax, sales tax, etc.)
• Support internal control design and implementation; assist with internal and external audits
• Identify financial and operational risks and support mitigation actions in collaboration with management

Qualifications

• Fluency in Mandarin (Strongly recommended)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 6–10 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (strong hands-on experience may substitute for years), including:
• • Strong hands-on GL experience (must be able to independently perform month-end close)
  • Solid experience in inventory and cost accounting
• Prior team leadership or supervisory experience preferred; candidates with strong ownership and the ability to lead a small team, on site and remotely, will also be considered
• Proficiency in QuickBooks; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Odoo) highly preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting flows between ERP and financial systems
• Detail-oriented, with strong ownership and execution ability
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
