Job Summary

The Office Manager for the College provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and supervisory support for rapidly expanding academic departments, this includes support for the Associate Dean, department chairs, faculty, staff, students, and student workers. This position manages day-to-day operations, coordinates annual faculty searches, supports multiple student organizations, assists the advising office, oversees departmental events, and responds to high-volume faculty and student needs. This role is central to maintaining efficient departmental workflow and supporting sustained program growth.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$19.73 - $20.38 per hour

Required Qualifications

1. High school graduation or equivalent.

2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series. This includes work such as performing a wide variety of office support tasks, which require the use of judgment and initiative and the ability to operate computer systems, using word processing, database and software packages.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Strong organization skills and detail oriented.
2. Strong customer service skills.
3. Ability to work in a team environment.
4. Sound writing and editing skills.
5. Sound ability to manage multiple projects.
6. Familiarity with the policies and procedures of Illinois State University.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
