With our Agency Ownership models, you'll have the freedom to choose whether you start your business with or without an office location, acquire an existing agency or established book of business, or follow one of our developmental pathways to give you more time to pick up firsthand knowledge from a seasoned business owner, while earning commissions and hands-on experience in the field from one of our top-performing Agency Owners.
No matter which pathway you choose, you'll not only receive the award-winning University of Farmers education, you'll also have over 85 years of Farmers Insurance experience at your beck and call with our local District Office experts, including a personalized and comprehensive training course, assistance with strategic business and marketing planning, and sales and management mentor-ship.
Requirements
- Previous experience in insurance, sales, customer service, or other related fields is preferred but not required
- Successfully pass a Background Check
- Proven access to $10,000 - $50,000 in capital
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Consultative sales approach
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Possess strong management skills

- Renewal Commissions With Farmers Friendly Reviews, policyholders will stay with you, year after year. Every time a policy renews, you earn a commission! As your agency base expands, more and more policies renew, and your commissions grow along with your business. Approximately 75% of an established agent’s income derives from renewal commissions.
- Your agency builds Equity An added benefit is the ability to develop substantial monetary equity, known as Contract Value. Upon retirement, you can collect your Contract Value as payment for the sale of your policies to either the company or on the fair market. Many agents use their Contract Value as a retirement nest egg. In addition, the Contract Value exhibits as collateral for personal loans from the Farmers Insurance Group Credit Union.
