Special Education Teacher - Middle School (LBS1, Case Management Required)
Location: Calumet City, IL
Pay Rate: $55/hour
Hours per Week: 32.5
Contract Duration: 2025-2026 School Year
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality instructional services to students with special needs in grades K-12, with a primary focus on middle school. This role emphasizes collaboration with general education staff to plan and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), deliver specialized instruction, and support student success in both resource and case management settings.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Provide direct instruction in resource settings and support students in general education classrooms as needed.

Manage a caseload of students, ensuring timely completion of IEP meetings, progress reports, and documentation.

Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student learning and inclusion.

Maintain accurate records and comply with all district, state, and federal requirements.
Schedule Details

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday:

8:20 AM - 12:10 PM: Case Management
-
12:15 PM - 2:40 PM: Resource Teaching
-
Wednesday & Friday: Case Management Duties
Minimum Requirements
-
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
-
Valid Illinois teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations.

State Teacher Certification in one or more of the following (preferred):

Standard Elementary Teaching
-
Standard Secondary Teaching
-
Standard Special Teaching
-
Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.

Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred).
-
Compliance with all professional standards of practice.
-
Current CPR certification (if applicable).
-
TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable).
-
Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).

Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
