Incumbents of the Electrician position average $138,000/year Production positions are paid a base hourly rate along with a production bonus which is calculated based on the amount of quality tons produced and paid weekly. Basic Job Functions: Nucor Steel Kankakee is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Shift Electrician. The Shift Electrician responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Taking care of our customers by executing the division's safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives
• Developing and promoting safe work practices for maintaining plant equipment
• Applying technical knowledge to solve problems with plant equipment
• Troubleshooting and upgrades to electrical controls systems and associates equipment (PLC), and electrical power distribution and protection equipment.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a diploma, a degree, or certification program in the electrical field, or two years of electrical maintenance experience including PLC's, VFD's, and controls Preferred Qualifications: • Previous industrial electrical maintenance experience
