Overview
We are searching for an individual with experience in medical billing for Optometry. In this vital role, you will manage the submission of insurance claims, ensure proper coding, and facilitate seamless communication between healthcare providers and insurance companies. Pay will be commencerate to experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using appropriate coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
• Review medical records to verify diagnoses, procedures, and services for proper billing and coding compliance.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure correct documentation aligns with billing requirements and coding guidelines.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to manage patient information efficiently and securely.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, coding updates, and insurance policies to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Skills

• Strong understanding of medical billing procedures, specificaly in Optometry, including claim submission, follow-up, and collections.
• Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
• Experience working with EMR systems and EHR platforms for managing medical records effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex data related to medical records and billing codes.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding billing inquiries or discrepancies.

We are currently a primary care provider, but will soon be expanding into a medical practice treating glaucoma, dry eye, cataract surgery follow-ups, and other medically related services.
