Assistant project manager
William Charles Construction is hiring for an Assistant Project Manager to support our roadway projects in Central, IL and surrounding areas.
The APM reports to and is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager with the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of the project(s) to meet time and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration functions. The assistant project manager will help ensure that nothing goes wrong during the project and will correct mistakes if necessary. Responsibilities- Assist the Project Manager in all phases and aspects of the project.
- Prepare the detailed project construction progress schedule in coordination with Superintendent, Project Manager, subcontractors and suppliers. Update the schedule on a monthly basis or as required by the Contract.
- Distribute all short interval and overall project schedules. Ensure subcontractors have the most up to date scopes of work.
- Work to obtain all necessary permits as requested by the PM.
- Complete sub evaluations/comparisons of bids, scope review, and complete buyout as requested by PM
- Ensure contracts, insurance, and bonds are current and received before subcontractor performs any work
- Secure properly executed subcontract and purchase order agreements, insurance certificates, bonds and other documents as required to protect the interest of the Company.
- With the Superintendent, monitor and expedite the delivery of materials.
- Assist the Superintendent to ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the contract requirements and specifications and with the required quality.
- Assist the Project Manager in the development of the monthly job status report.
- Complete quantity take-offs as requested by estimating and PM.
- Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contract with Owner, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project related documents, and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
- Assist in the preparation of change proposals, change orders review, issues change orders to subcontractors and Project Accountant.
- Document potential schedule delays and promptly notify supervision to submit request for extension of time and/or additional costs as per terms of Contract.
- Keep the Project Manager fully informed in a timely fashion with regard to any and all problem areas on the project.
- Consistently follows/enforces the Company’s safety procedures and policies.
- Actively participate and/or lead post-bid, buyout, coordination, lead team, subcontractor, staffing, scheduling and other meetings.
- Prepare meeting minutes as directed by Project Manager.
- Maintain and Track Project Closeout Activities.
- Other related duties as assigned or needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related degree. A combination of education & experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 2+ years’ experience in heavy civil construction projects desired
- Compensation $95,000-$110,0000 / year, commensurate with experience
