Human Resources Manager

About the Opportunity
The HR Manager plays a pivotal role in driving effective human resources practices across the organization by managing day-to-day HR operations, supporting employee lifecycle processes, and executing strategic initiatives in collaboration with the HR Director. This role combines leadership in core HR functions with hands-on management of compliance, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, and operational support tasks. The HR Manager will also act as a key liaison between employees and leadership to maintain a positive, compliant, and productive workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation of org-wide HR strategy and culture initiatives set by the HR Director
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Manage routine employee relations issues; escalate complex matters to HR Director
- Attend disciplinary meetings alongside school leaders to ensure fairness, consistency, and documentation
- Assist in preparation and submission of state, licensure, and compliance reports
- Track FMLA, leave of absence, and ADA processes
- Conduct onboarding and offboarding processes including background checks and orientation
- Coordinate with hiring managers to ensure a positive candidate and new hire experience
- Maintain and audit staff licensure and certification records
- Support employee enrollment in credentialing and licensure programs as directed
- Process open enrollment and ongoing benefits administration
- Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits inquiries
- Maintain and update HRIS records
- Monitor daily attendance and generate daily and weekly attendance reports and identify patterns or concerns and flag issues to the HR Director
- Support time tracking compliance and follow-up with employees and managers
- Maintain and update HRIS records
- Run regular reports on attendance, training, and HR metrics
- Support audits and data reviews for leadership and compliance needs
- Coordinate logistics for HR-related training
Required Skills & Abilities
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who is looking to build a career in Human Resources, take initiative, learn and grow. Specific requirements are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required)
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in HR administration or management
- Experience in the education or nonprofit sector is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Proficient in Google Suite and HRIS systems (ADP WorkforceNow preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of employment law and HR best practices
