Program Director of Electronic Engineering Technology
Description: The Program Director is a faculty member who reports directly to the Provost and is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the program area which may or may not be degree-granting. The program director is expected to teach three courses per quarter. As front-line manager, Department Program Director at East-West University is the primary academic spokesperson for program's faculty, staff, and students. The Director must interpret and present information and arguments that accurately reflect program intent, structure, assessments and outcomes to all interested constituencies and generally
assure that all aspects of the program serve to advance the institution mission, goals and purposes.
Qualifications: The minimal qualifications are those for the position of Assistant Professor described above under description. Must have minimum master’s degree in Electronics and 2-3 teaching experience in a college or university.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Overseeing governance of the department
• Managing departmental office services
• Maintaining currency of and developing departmental courses and programs
• Enforcing departmental and university policies
• Recruiting, selecting, continuing, and dismissing faculty (full-time and part- time adjunct faculty)
• Making faculty work assignments and overseeing faculty performance
• Making merit, and promotion recommendations
• Ensuring intellectual vitality and promoting faculty development
• Maintaining and supervising labs of the program
• Attending to student requirements and needs
• Enforcing (and approving exceptions to) departmental and university policies
• Responsible for academic and career advising of students in the program
• Monitoring departmentally sponsored student groups and activities
• Leading department's efforts to recruit and retain students
• Collecting aggregate data regarding student progress and success (assessment, retention)
• Communicating with external publics
• Managing relevant departmental finances and facilities
• Managing data accurately and securely
• Encouraging institutional support (grants and gifts)
