Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) - Pediatrics on Curtis
Qualifications Certifications (one of the following required):
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Certified Medical Assistant – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health (AAH)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire
- High School Diploma or GED
Responsibilities
- Room patients and collect pertinent information, including chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation.
- Conduct telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities while maintaining accurate patient information per departmental policies.
- Perform administrative duties, including patient check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, prior authorizations, benefit verification, referral coordination, and testing coordination.
- Complete office procedures according to departmental competencies and provider direction.
- Perform clinical procedures such as urine catheterizations, bladder scanning, suture/staple removal, cast application/removal, TB skin test readings, and point-of-care diagnostic testing.
- Provide patients with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care as directed by providers.
- Retrieve and provide condition-specific patient education materials per provider orders.
- Administer medications, immunizations, PPD tests, nebulizer treatments, and oral medications to patients ages 0–21 per provider orders.
- Assist with prescription refill requests, call medications into pharmacies, notify patients of refills, and document actions in the EMR.
- Maintain competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment operation, and specialty-specific training.
- Obtain and document vital signs for patients ages 0–21, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and pulse.
- Assist providers with in-office procedures such as toenail removal, lesion removal, and circumcisions.
- Complete comprehensive medication reconciliation, including prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Assist with the completion of physical and medical forms.

Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $18.33per hour - $29.69per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
