ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Peoria, IL 61605 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Unit: High Acuity Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time Registered Nurse position
• Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2300 per week
• Start Date: September 15, 2025

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or eligibility to obtain (Illinois RN jobs)
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification (required prior to start)
• ACLS certification preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience required
• Experience in rehabilitation or acute care setting preferred
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill patients in the ICU using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation)
• Act as a patient advocate and supervise care delivered by nursing support staff
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Document assessments, care plans, and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate emergency interventions as needed
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with ICU protocols and nursing standards
• Assist physicians with specialized procedures and diagnostic tests
• Educate patients and families, participate in discharge planning, and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
• Support onboarding and training of new nursing staff and engage in ongoing professional development
