Hall Director
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff members.
- Hold weekly (or biweekly) 1:1s meetings with Senior student staff members to discuss personal, community, and professional issues/concerns, as well as monitoring student wellbeing and development.
- Lead weekly staff meetings to discuss community and departmental issues/concerns.
- Support and attend events and activities planned by Student-led, departmental, or campus organizations.
- Establish, advise, and manage Area Council executive board for your residential area of responsibility.
- Assist with the management of on-campus student leadership organizations such as National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), Residence Hall Association (RHA), and the Black Togetherness Organization (BTO).
- Attend weekly area council meetings and leadership organizations' executive board meetings.
- Work with student staff to develop and promote (floor) - and area - based communities; collaborate with students to create House (floor)- based identities.
- Establish and recruit student leaders to serve on the area-specific leadership council (Area Council).
- Plan and implement monthly, HD-led, area programming
- Promote and assist with the recruitment for student leadership organizations such as Area Council, NRHH, RHA, and BTO.
- Collaborate with Faculty/Staff and Residence Life to promote and execute Living Learning Community (LLCs) events and programs.
- Adjudicate student conduct/administrative conferences with students using Symplicity's Advocate conduct management system.
- Serve in an on-call rotation for the residential campus.
- Utilize housing administrative software for on-campus occupancy management, room changes, and damage charges (StarRez).
- Manage operating budgets for student staff, student leadership organizations, and Area Council programming.
- Establish both working relationships and lines of communication with Campus Partners such as Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Office for Access & Accommodations (OAA), and Students Rights and Responsibilities (SRR).
- Chair/serve on departmental review/planning committees such as Hiring/recruitment, Training, Move-In. and Systems and Administration.
- Maintain a secure and functional physical environment conducive to students' learning and success.
- Collaborate with the area housing administration to ensure proper management of key and building access devices. Conducting routine audits of keys and BADs and work with area housing administration to correct any discrepancies.
- Conduct frequent walk-throughs of assigned residential area.
- Establish working relationships with facilities and housekeeping/custodial staff.
- Establish working relationships with Culinary & Nutrition Service, Building Services, and Contracts staff.
- Report building/facility-related emergencies/after-hours concerns and submit maintenance requests/reports.
- Utilize building access and camera system to support the security of on-campus living facilities.
- Assist with the implementation of summer camps and or conferences held within the residence halls.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree by date of start
- 4 or more semesters or 2 or more years of paraprofessional or professional experience with housing or residence life
- Master's Degree by date of start
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and database software
- University Counseling and/or Crisis Response experience
- Housing/Residence life live-on experience
