Full Time Driver/Mover

Digs with Dignity
Chicago, IL

The Company:

At Digs with Dignity, we aspire to break the cycle of homelessness by furnishing homes with creative, custom designs using sustainable, upcycled solutions. As a 501(c)(3), we partner with Chicago-based social service agencies to identify families in need and utilize a warehouse of donated and refurbished furniture and home goods to outfit homes. Founded in 2019, we have helped furnish homes for over 250 families (and counting) in Chicago, keeping over 275,000 lbs of furniture and waste out of landfills in the process.

Job Summary:

The Full-Time Mover will play a central role in helping DIGS deliver fully furnished homes with care, dignity, and efficiency. Reporting to the Head of Internal Operations, this role supports all moving operations, warehouse prep, pick-up routes, and on-site setup. The Mover is often the first DIGS team member a client or donor interacts with, so providing exceptional customer service is essential.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone physically capable, detail-oriented, adaptable, and excited to contribute directly to improving the lives of Chicago families.

  • Deliver exceptional client service, creating a welcoming and supportive experience in clients’ homes.
  • Provide positive donor experience on all truck routes as the liaison to in kind donors
  • Collaborate with volunteers and team members to ensure efficient and high-quality installs.

Warehouse & Prep Support

  • Assist with inventory, staging, and organization of donated and refurbished items.
  • Prepare furniture and materials for upcoming moves or client homes.
  • Support warehouse buildouts and maintenance projects as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Step in as a floater across operations when needed to support DIGS’ mission.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in the warehouse and on-site.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Physically capable: comfortable lifting a minimum of 50lbs, moving, and standing for extended periods.

  • Team-oriented: able to work closely and collaboratively with other team members and volunteers.
  • Adaptable: thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and problem-solve on the spot.
  • Mission-aligned: prioritize dignity, care, and client experience in every action.

Nice-to-Haves / Trainable

  • Experience using a walking forklift.
  • Experience with basic handy work (assembly, hanging, furniture prep).

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience in moving, delivery, warehouse, or similar physically active work is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, on-site schedule required at warehouse and client homes.
  • Physically active role; must be comfortable lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods.
  • Evening and weekend availability required for pick up routes or special projects.
  • Typical weekly hours are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm and every other Saturday 9-2pm

Salary & Benefits
