Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Senior Operator for a direct hire opportunity in Roselle, IL. This position is responsible for leading production crews while operating and troubleshooting converting equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong web handling experience, extensive converting knowledge, and the ability to independently set up, run, and optimize production lines while maintaining the highest standards for quality, safety, and productivity. Web Handling Experience is Required Candidates must have hands-on experience with:

• Web threading and web path setup
• Tension control systems
• Roll-to-roll converting processes
• Cylinder and plate setup
• Inline finishing equipment
• Converting line troubleshooting and optimization

️ Qualifications & Skills Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5–7 years of converting, web handling, or inline finishing experience
• strong understanding of web handling systems and tension controls
• Experience operating converting and finishing equipment
• Experience with:
  • Web handling systems
  • Tension controls
  • Rotary cutters
  • Gluing systems
  • Labeling equipment
  • Inline finishing equipment
• strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to troubleshoot and make machine adjustments independently
• Leadership experience directing production crews
• strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and follow production specifications and work instructions

Preferred

• Flexible packaging manufacturing experience
• Mailer production experience
• Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience
• Experience training operators and production personnel

Responsibilities

• Lead production crews in the safe and efficient operation of converting equipment
• Review job tickets and production specifications prior to startup
• Verify all materials, tooling, and production components are available before production begins
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot converting lines with minimal supervision
• Operate inline finishing equipment including:
  • Gluing systems
  • Labeling systems
  • Straub applicators
  • Rotary cutting systems
  • Ancillary converting equipment
• Perform web handling setup including threading, tension adjustments, cylinder installation, and plate setup
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments
• Maintain productivity, waste, and quality standards
• Accurately record production counts, materials, downtime, and production data
• Train and mentor operators as needed
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and waste reduction
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain housekeeping standards and a safe work environment
