Employment Specialist
The Employment Specialist will work with both employers and participants to connect youth ages 18-24 with justice involvement to opportunities in the workforce. The Employment Specialist will develop work-based learning and training opportunities for participants and employers and ensure employer’s needs are met. Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Employer Engagement and Job Development
- Establish relationships and maintain close contact with area employers for job development and placement opportunities.
- Create and monitor contracts for work-based learning with area employers.
- Stay current with community employment needs, trends, and related skills required for employment.
- Assist participants in finding and maintaining employment in relevant industries.
- Counsel and provide on-going case management to program participants who are enrolled in work-based learning programs.
- Make appropriate resource referrals, provide follow-up services, and track outcomes.
- Become familiar with policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect customers’ personal Identifying Information (PII) as required by law.
- Maintain participant files in compliance with program requirements and guidelines.
- Shows flexibility in working with youth with varying abilities, experiences, and backgrounds.
- Show flexibility and tolerance in working with individuals from diverse social, economic and educational backgrounds.
- A combination of education and relevant work experience that aligns with the duties of this position.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail.
- High customer service focus.
- Requires occasional local travel within Goodwill’s territory on a regular schedule. Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
