Cath Lab Technologist Qualifications

• At least 1 year of recent experience as a Cath Lab Technologist or Cardiac Cath Lab Tech
• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology (two-year post-high school program)
• Current ARRT certification required
• Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) certification or eligibility to obtain
• Active BLS (CPR) certification
• Strong knowledge of diagnostic radiology, cardiac imaging, and special procedures
• Ability to deliver age-appropriate patient care in a clinical setting
• Must pass a drug screen (drug-free workplace policy)

Cath Lab Tech Responsibilities

• Perform cine, digital subtraction angiography, and specialized radiologic procedures using sterile technique
• Prepare exam areas, position patients, and operate advanced radiology equipment
• Act as a scrub tech, arranging sterile set-up and assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures
• Monitor and document cardiovascular and pulmonary functions during diagnostic and interventional cases
• Transfer and archive cardiac images in the hospital's picture archival system (PACS)
• Identify and promptly alert physicians to abnormal patient readings and arrhythmias
• Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, perform minor repairs, and report malfunctions
• Participate in department meetings, ongoing education, and quality improvement initiatives
• Assist with room turnover and supply management between cases
• Fulfill on-call requirements, including weekends, after-hours, and holidays as needed
