Mechanical product development engineer product
Build what’s next in precision manufacturing
Imagine starting your day walking through a fully automated, vertically integrated facility where ideas move from concept to production under one roof. That’s Geremarie Corporation in Lake Zurich, Illinois—a precision manufacturer of complex aluminum components for marine, aerospace, medical, defense, and commercial equipment markets. Backed by Patrick Industries, we pair entrepreneurial drive with world-class manufacturing to deliver tight-tolerance parts at speed and scale.
The role: what your day looks like
As a Product Development Engineer II focused on New Product Introduction (NPI), you’ll guide new mechanical products from early concept through production launch. Morning stand-ups with Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Quality align priorities. Midday, you’re in SolidWorks refining a critical subassembly, applying DFM principles and GD&T to ensure manufacturability. In the afternoon, you’re on the floor piloting a new fixture and capturing updates for drawings, BOMs, and ECRs—keeping projects on time, on scope, and to spec.
What you’ll deliver
- Innovative product, subassembly, and component designs built in SolidWorks 3D CAD.
- Designs optimized for scale and quality using DFM and rigorous GD&T application.
- Clear documentation: detailed drawings, bills of materials, ECRs, and assembly work instructions.
- Part and assembly drawings with appropriate tolerancing and geometric controls.
- Purpose-built fixtures, tooling, and process improvements that accelerate in-house manufacturing.
- Cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Quality to hit project goals.
- Active participation in design reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Uncompromising adherence to safety and quality standards.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years in mechanical design engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including CAD, PDM, and Simulation/FEA.
- Fluency with design documentation, quality standards, GD&T, and ERP systems.
- Hands-on build/assembly experience and troubleshooting skills for mechanical systems.
- Strong analytical problem solving paired with excellent communication and collaboration.
Core proficiencies
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- CAD/CAM Software
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
