Our Lincoln Park location features a full-service coffee program, sandwiches, Roman-style pizza, grab-and-go offerings, cheese & charcuterie, wine, beer, and curated retail goods.
The RolePiccadilly Market – Lincoln Park is seeking a dependable and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team. This position combines both prep cook and line cook responsibilities and is ideal for someone who takes pride in thoughtful food preparation, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and values teamwork, consistency, and attention to detail.
The Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, executing food service, and maintaining consistent production of Piccadilly Market's sandwiches, Roman-style pizza, prepared foods, grab-and-go items, and seasonal offerings. This position works closely with the Kitchen Manager and kitchen team to ensure food is prepared accurately, efficiently, and according to Piccadilly Market's quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Service
- Prepare ingredients for daily service, including washing, cutting, portioning, labeling, and organizing products.
- Prepare sandwiches, Roman-style pizza, prepared foods, salads, soups, sauces, and other menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Execute prep work efficiently while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
- Ensure timely and accurate food production during service.
- Set up, stock, and maintain assigned stations throughout each shift.
- Monitor product quality and presentation to ensure consistency.
- Assist with ingredient preparation, restocking, and daily kitchen organization.
- Support seasonal specials, menu updates, catering orders, and kitchen initiatives as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Properly store, label, date, and rotate ingredients using FIFO practices.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, stocking inventory, and organizing storage areas.
- Assist with opening, closing, and daily kitchen cleaning procedures.
- Maintain proper food handling, storage, and temperature control standards.
- Participate in dishwashing and general back-of-house responsibilities as part of the kitchen team.
- Help minimize waste while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with kitchen teammates to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Take direction from kitchen leadership and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Support other stations and team members as business needs require.
- Arrive prepared, punctual, and ready to contribute every shift.
- Help maintain a culture of teamwork, accountability, and hospitality.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar kitchen role.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within the kitchen.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work comfortably in hot and cold kitchen environments.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
- Full-time availability preferred (approximately 5 shifts per week).
- Must be available to work at least two weekend days (Friday-Sunday), two weekday shifts (Monday-Thursday), and most holidays (including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, and New Years Day)
