LaSalle Network is hiring a Senior Project Accountant – Building Construction to support major construction projects based in Chicago, IL. In this role, you’ll oversee complex project accounting operations while partnering with project teams, accounting leadership and key business stakeholders. With 50% travel to Dallas, TX, this position is well suited for a Senior Project Accountant who enjoys managing large-scale projects, collaborating across teams and serving as a trusted financial partner.
What’s the job?
Manage accounting operations for a mega-project and/or multiple large construction projects
Review and process subcontracts, subcontract change orders, and performance and payment bonds to ensure compliance
Collect and review subcontractor and supplier lien waivers
Process monthly subcontractor and supplier invoices while ensuring accurate accruals, cost reporting and phase coding
Ensure timely and accurate payments to subcontractors and major suppliers
Maintain a thorough understanding of project cost reports and accounting functions related to posted costs
Review monthly project P&Ls for accuracy and ensure timely financial reporting
Process project cost transfers in partnership with project management teams
Perform detailed monthly owner billing analyses and independently prepare owner billings as needed
Submit monthly owner billings for review and processing
Monitor project cash flow and partner with project teams to track accounts receivable activity
Independently oversee accounting operations for large-scale construction projects
What’s needed?
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related business field
Minimum of five years of construction accounting or related experience
Strong understanding of project accounting, cost reporting and financial analysis
Experience reviewing project P&Ls and managing financial reporting processes
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines
Ability to travel up to 50% to Dallas, TX
