Manufacturing Project Manager | Plastics & Custom Fabrication

Our client, a leading custom plastics and fabrication manufacturer in Crystal Lake, IL, is seeking a Manufacturing Project Manager to oversee multiple projects from quoting to completion. This hands-on role requires managing engineering, purchasing, material control, quality, and installation phases while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards.

This role is ideal for candidates with 5+ years of manufacturing project management experience, particularly in plastics, metal fabrication, or other production-based manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities:

• Read, interpret, and apply mechanical blueprints and schematics.
• Track project schedules, budgets, and quality to ensure on-time delivery.
• Review completed jobs and identify improvements for future projects.
• Lead and manage multiple custom manufacturing projects simultaneously.
• Prepare quotes, estimates, and proposals for custom fabrication projects.
• Oversee project phases: engineering, purchasing, material control, quality, and installation.
• Communicate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements are met.
• Troubleshoot project challenges, recommend solutions, and maintain attention to detail.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
• Self-starter, results-driven, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
• Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics.
• 5+ years of manufacturing project management or project engineering experience in plastics, metal fabrication, machinery manufacturing, or similar production-based environments.
• Associate degree in engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under time constraints.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or E-Drawings.
• Experience in plastics, injection molding, or custom fabrication projects.
• Exposure to Lean manufacturing principles or process improvement initiatives.
